For over 16 years Every Kid Counts (EKC) has been dedicated to helping children in need. In bringing hearts and minds together EKC has provided programs that Empower Today's Youth to Become Tomorrow's Leaders. Through educational, athletic and philanthropic programs EKC has helped empower thousands of youth.

The Lion and The Legend is an expansion of EKC’s spirit of giving to the youth in our communities. Its focus is on cradling and empowering those children who cannot help their selves.  The Lion and The Legend serves those children struck with personal adversity and medical hardship. Today’s youth are our gift to the future. Through Love, Charity and Empowerment we will ensure that our treasures arrive at their future safe, secure and inspired to make this world an even more beautiful place.

Levels of Giving

Certain kinds of giving are considered more meritorious than others. As such, the Act of Giving has been described according to different levels. The levels of charity, from the least meritorious to the most meritorious, are:

  1. Giving begrudgingly
  2. Giving less than you should, but giving it cheerfully.
  3. Giving after being asked
  4. Giving before being asked
  5. Giving when you do not know the recipient's identity, but the recipient knows your identity
  6. Giving when you know the recipient's identity, but the recipient doesn't know your identity
  7. Giving when neither party knows the other's identity
  8. Enabling the recipient to become self-reliant

Remember, the obligation is within all of us to make a difference. Do not consider what you cannot change, celebrate what you can change by striving to brighten the lives of the underprivileged children and families that we serve. Never underestimate the power of your gesture and the effect that your giving has on not only the families and children whom you help, but also on how it may impact and inspire the lives of others as well! Together, with a focused purpose, we can be a significant force that works for good and inspires others to join in this winning campaign.
